What is SMAA About ?

The SMAA has been designed to help develop the martial arts as a sport in South Louisiana. The SMAA ensures true championship status to players of the sport by a unique system of points and competition. Competition at each SMAA tournament is a point race and competitors are rated in The Southern Martial Arts Association web site.

Southern Martial Arts Association (SMAA) is a sport karate league based upon a series of open tournaments to rate and qualify amateur and black belt competitors to becoming official champions at a end of season banquet. SMAA tournaments are open to all ranks and every SMAA tournament is rated with the same point system.

As a competitor, your participation in the SMAA will provide the best recognition, a significantly lowered financial burden due to less required travel, less burn out due to big unorganized tournaments and the opportunity to achieve sport karate championship status in South Louisiana.
